Schieb: Volkswagen's arrival would be great for Serbia 11 April 2019 13:56 2 minutes _____ BELGRADE - German Ambassador to Belgrade Thomas Schieb said Thursday there was no news about Volkswagen's potential arrival in Serbia and that no decision had been made as yet. The decision is up to the company itself, Schieb told N1 TV, adding that he personally believed the automaker's arrival would be a "great thing" for Serbia. "I hope the decision will be in Serbia's favour. I do not know when the decision will be made, but it would be a continuation of a positive trend," he said. He said the number of people employed by German companies in Serbia had risen from 45,000 to 55,000 since the beginning of his tenure in Belgrade at the end of last summer. German companies are not only employing workers, but engineers and highly-qualified workforce as well, he noted.
