The President of Serbia, Aleksander Vucic, has said he supports visa-free
travel for Kosovo in the European Union.

Vucic’s comments came following the announcement of the President of the
European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who stressed that Kosovo deserves
visa liberalisation,

“An s for the praise of Prishtina, I have nothing against, and I am very much
in favour of giving them a visa-free regime, and I will support it always, and
at every moment, as I have always done, for many reasons, I don’t want to
explain anymore,” Vucic pointed out in this regard.

Recently, the European Commission Chief, Ursula von der Leyen, said that she
stressed she had a very good meeting as well as conversations with the
President of KosovoVjosa Osmani regarding Kosovo’s visa liberalisation process.

She stressed that Kosovo deserves visa liberalisation while emphasising the
fact that they will try to convince all in the EU that visas for Kosovo’s
citizens should be abolished.

Von der Leyen has said that the Balkan country deserves visa liberalisation
while adding that it was emphasised that Kosovo met all the needed
requirements. Von der Leyen stressed that the European Commission’s task is to
convince the European Council, stressing that most of them are on Kosovo’s side.

In this regard, the Rapporter for Kosovo in the European Parliament said there
would be a vote in the next meeting of the European Council related to Kosovo’s
visa liberalisation process between the middle of November and in December.

In addition, Von Cramon said that the visa regime for Kosovo’s citizens should
be lifted as soon as possible.

“The visa liberalisation process will be finished. We hope we will have a date
when visa liberalisation will occur. I saw that this was for the first time on
the agenda of the working group of the Council of the European Union last
Thursday. A clear decision has not yet been made; there will be another vote in
mid-November or early December. Behind the scenes, we are working hard to see a
positive decision,” she pointed out in this regard.

It was reported that the EU Member states will address their requests in the
form of comments regarding Kosovo’s visa liberalisation process until October
21.

The comments would be accepted by the Czech Presidency of the European Council
before the European Commission’s next meeting, which will be held in November
or early December this year.

Kosovo’s visa liberalisation process started back in 2012; however, it has not
been finalised yet, despite the fact that the county has met all the needed
requirements.
