Registration of male conscripts will begin in September or October, after related legislative changes are made, and the draft will last for 75 days, Vucic told reporters on Thursday, following a briefing on the results of an analysis of the Serbian armed forces' capabilities, as seen in a video posted by public broadcaster RTS. Serbia abolished mandatory six-month conscription for men in 2011. "We are very concerned about the formation of military alliances against Serbia in our environment, and accordingly, we are acting responsibly, seriously, not provoking anyone, but wanting to deter anyone who would commit aggression against our country. Our defence capacities have been drastically and dramatically increased both in the air force and air defence. In the years to come, capacities in all other branches of our army will also be significantly boosted," Vucic said, noting that Serbia allocates a record 2.65% of GDP for defence and security. In March 2025, Albania, Croatia, and Kosovo signed<https://seenews.com/news/albania-croatia-kosovo-sign-defence-cooperation-agreement-1272458> a defence cooperation agreement that aims to strengthen their defence capabilities and improve military interoperability through joint training and exercises. Shortly after, Serbia signed<https://seenews.com/news/serbia-hungary-sign-defence-cooperation-agreement-1273175> a similar agreement with Hungary. Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Croatia reinstated<https://seenews.com/news/croatia-brings-back-military-conscription-1283859> mandatory military conscription for men, starting in 2026. Apart from Croatia, Moldova is the only country in the region with a compulsory military draft. https://seenews.com/news/serbia-to-reinstate-military-conscription-1288889 -- http:www.antic.org --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "SERBIAN NEWS NETWORK" group.
