Some of you might remember about a month back I posted an e-mail
describing how my Dad went to a 10-Minute Oil Change place to get his oil
changed and his tires rotated. He then pulled out of the oil change
place and quickly found out that they didn't put any oil in the car (1993
Lincoln Mark VIII), and thus he had to get a new engine. Just as my Dad
got his car back today, I found out another piece of the story.

This part of the story I did not expect. Today on my lunch break I
agreed to take my friend to his girlfriend's real quick because he
doesn't have a car. As we arrived there I talked to his girlfriend for a
couple minutes, and she unveiled some interesting (and surprising)
information. It turns out she knew the guy who attempted to change my
Dad's oil. The first thing she said to me was that my Dad was lucky that
he was getting a new engine (after all, the car has 107K on it). At
first I was confused because I didn't think I had told her (Lisa) about
it, but evidently my friend (Nick) did. She reveiled that the guy who
was to change my Dad's oil was named Ryan, and that he was fired on the
spot. So I asked her how could that dumb ass forget to put oil in the
car when that was what he was paid to do. The response I got from this
question is what pisses me off. Evidently, "Ryan" did it on purpose.
Ryan hated his job, and the hours which he had to work. Ryan was
thinking of quitting. And Ryan intentionally didn't put any oil in my
Dad's car. This Ryan guy doesn't know me and evidently he did it
completely at random. He had a bad day (wahhhhhhhhhhh) and decided that
the next car that comes in isn't getting any motor oil. My Dad was the
unfortunate victim.

That's what pisses me off. The guy hates his job so he decides to put
$4,500 dollars of damage on my Dad's car. What the hell is up with
that?!?!?!?!? It isn't just that, it's the hassle you have to go
through. It's losing your car for a month, having to deal with the
dealer for repairs, and having to deal with the insurance company.
Having to deal with the insurer is the worst part, because of the
inevitable hassle. The claims adjuster wanted my dad to pay almost
$1,000!!!!! My Dad managed to knock the price down because the dealer
said they would knock $500 off the price when he wanted to get another
estimate (Didn't want to lose business). Then, by downgrading his rental
car and borrowing my sister's Altima for a couple of days, he manager to
get the price down some more. He wound up coming out of pocket $128.00.

What an ordeal it was going through this. And it really pisses me off to
know that the guy did it on purpose. I don't know if I am going to tell
my Dad about this, and I really don't know if he would believe me if I
told him. I mentioned to him that maybe the guy did it on purpose, and
he basically laughed. Bottom Line: CHANGE YOUR OIL YOURSELF!!!
Somebody posted an article on how to do it in SOLM. It is not difficult
to change the oil yourself, and you'll save a little bit of money in the
process.

Sorry about the long post...
