SML: Making a 89 sentra run a 17.4

How can I make my 89 sentra run a 17.5 without NOS or a turbo or without 
switching engines? The reason is to beat my friends stock 97 4 door civic. I 
need to do this by September 10 because that's when I'm going to the Pomona 
dragway. I am already going to gut my car out and maybe advance my timing, so 
what else can I do.
