I know the rods and rod bolts having a low torque spec, would not allow you
to spin the motor very fast past the stock redline, I heard of a few people
that had the rev limiter taken off and it spun to 7500, then the rod sailed
through the oil pan! the piston broke loose off another cyl and hit the head
and just shattered the valves, destroying the head. After hearing from Bob
Legere about the rod bolts, he rebuild the stock rods with ARP bolts, just
like he did and it worked fine after that, but boost is another question and
when I decide to bring the parts together, I will carefully choose the right
parts and asemble a strong motor. I have an extra motor that will be the
guinnea pig, I just have to save this winter to put the project together. I
may try to obtain hotshots exhaust manifold and assemble my own package.
Using the JWT ECU and cams as part of the whole piece, but hotshots kit seems
like a whole lot of money when I am spending 4000 on the motor already just
to get the thing ready for boost.
