I just got to thinking that I need to replace my fuel filter soon and
thought I would bring up something that I have been dealing with since I
bought my car back in '95:

Every freakin' time I have had to change my fuel filter, I have had to
destroy the old one in order to get it off.

The hose on the bottom of the filter tends to release the filter pretty
easy (btw: bottom of the filter is made of metal in case you have never
changed one personally), but I have to twist the top hose off the car so
hard that the top of the filter usually breaks off (the "top" of the
filter being the little PLASTIC part that is actually IN the fuel line).
This irritates the hell out of me b/c I then have to get a pair of
needle nose plyers to get the little piece of plastic retrieved out of
my fuel line.

1). Is there a reason why the top of the fuel filter is made of plastic
and the bottom is made of metal?
2). Does anyone else have similar problems changing the fuel filter on
their GA?
3). I am thinking of going with a K&N fuel filter this time. Does anyone
else have one of these and care to comment?

TIA
