Before I write this up, I want to put this disclaimer in. This worked for me, try at your own risk. Sents I've got my Sentra up on jack stands doing lots of work to it, it came time to clean the rims. This was not something I was looking forward to as they have around 120,000 miles on them and the insides of the rims have never been cleaned and were really nasty, I've used a spray on, rinse off with water type of product lots of times BUT never an in-depth cleaning with the tires and rims off the car before. I THOUGHT I had my spray on cleaning stuff but when I went looking for it I could not find it, my wife had my pick up and was gone into town (we live up in the mountains of eastern San Diego county, about 70 miles one way into the closest big town). Sents I didn't want to lose a hole days worth of work time on the car waiting for her to return I started looking around the house for something to use to clean the tires and rims with, what I finally settled on using was GOOP hand cleaner and an old 4 inch wide soft paint brush, I didn't know for sure how it would work, if it would stain the rims or just what it would do to the finish on them. I tried a small test spot on the inside of one rim and was really surprised on how well it cleaned them. I let the test spot air dry completely to check for discoloring, stains, or what ever, nothing showed up, just a nice clean test spot, COOL I thought and very, very easy to use. I just painted the stuff on, and used the old paint brush to scrub it a little on the really bad stuff on the inside of the rim and hosed it off. I did this in the shade, because it was starting to dry sooner than I wanted and I was worried about any kind of a streak or stain or discoloring. By using an old soft paint brush I was able to get into all the nooks and crannies of the rim and not scratch them. They came out looking almost like brand new rims, the stock factory clear coat finish really shined like it never had before with the spray on cleaners unless I polished them by hand to bring the luster back to them. I don't know how this would work with an after market rim or on a rim made out of anything else other than the stock alum rim, but I was surprised at how easy it went on and how well it cleaned the stock alum. rim, almost as easy as using the spray on rim cleaner and the old soft paint brush let me get into all the hard to clean spots and use it as a soft scrubber without leaving any marks on the rim. The reason I finely settled on using the GOOP hand cleaner is because I figured if it is safe to use on your hands, biodegradable and all the other good stuff it says on the container it shouldn't be to hard on alum stock rims if its safe to use on your hands. I really couldn't believe how easy it was to apply and how nice the rims turned out. Like I said at the beginning of this try it at your own risk as I don't know what it may do to any other kinds, type, or material there made out of or what ever but it worked for me and I don't think I'll ever change back to my old way I was doing it. Wax on Wax off, ha ha. I was so happy with the way they turned out, I used this same stuff on the insides of the fender wells also, just painted it on, used the paint brush to scrub it a little and hosed it off, it really cleaned up all the plastic fender wells parts great, I did have to do them twice to get them done just the way I wanted. An added plus is the cost, I'd bought the GOOP hand cleaner at a 99 cent store so I didn't have to spend a lot of money on the product. Give this stuff a try if you want, it may surprise you as it did me, also it works great on cleaning other auto parts that are not highly dirty or have baked on automotive grease/oils. Ron
