About the only thing that comes to my mind, would be the alcohol would help 
to remove any water from the gas tank and other parts of the gas line system. 
But I'm not even sure if this is the correct type of alcohol to use for this. 
Also, there may be some small amount of a cooling effect taking place with 
the use of the alcohol in the gas tank. Without knowing more about how this 
persons engine was set up, I'd say it's best to stay away from this type of 
thing.
