Awhile back, I disconnected the hoses from the PCV and the fresh-air inlet valve cover and attached baby K&N filters, as well as plugging the corresponding holes on the intake pipe and manifold. I did this to eliminate the idle problems caused by having oil in the intake tract. The problem however, is that the inlet by the distributor blows air all the time, as well as a lot of oil through the filter. According to the Haynes, there should be not be air coming out at idle, only when the engine is under a heavy load. Can any one clue me in on what may be happening here? Is this blow-by? FWIW, even after an engine flush, my synthetic oil turns fairly dark pretty rapidly after an oil change.
