Most 12" subs are nothing more than 10"s with larger cones. I would save
the space of 2 12"s and get 3 10"s. It will be louder and compress more
air b/c of there being more cone surface.

As for the set up, I dont have a conversion chart in front of me, but I
think that with your current MTX 2 channel, you can hook up 3 6ohm subs
and still not exceed the amp's abilities. 

Any further into this and I will be suggesting about $2000 worth of subs
and amps, so I'll let this be my input :-)
