A little FYI for those of you who haven't thought of this or done it:

Aluminum foil is a conductor :-)

For after market (aka: Autozone/Pepboys) antennas, wrap the threads of
the antenna in aluminum foil (perhaps 2 layers)(very thin) so that they
will fit the stock threads of the car's mount.

This may sound ghetto as hell, but it works and no one knows that it is
done. Reception is great and it doesn't hurt the car/stereo at all.

I have been doing this for years on my car and I can say that as far as
picking up radio stations, I can get WBCN (Boston, MA) in Raymond, NH
(about a 100 miles away) with very little static with my after market
(Autozone) antenna w/very little static (depending on weather, read: no
static).
