Ahh, but isn't it fun when you run into something that's not metric, or vice versa?
That is my *favorite* thing while working on cars.

...which easily disconnects by squeezing and pulling (it's brown IIRC).

Yup.  One is connected to the bulb, and the other to the housing.  Are you
using aftermarket bulbs?  I think the aftermarket H3 (that's the ones, right?)
are notched a little smaller than the stock ones.  Try to either make those
notches bigger, or just stick it in.  I just put mine in, they weren't exactly a
perfect fit, but they never gave me problems (actually, one of them just burnt
out this past week after being used daily close to a year).

Been there, done that.  With headlights too about 4 times.  I've relaced my
headlight harnesses too, so if anyone needs the part number, let me know
(9007 bulbs for a 98 200SX - NOT 9004).

Actually, when I took them off last time, I had to, because two of the bolts broke
from being so rusty.  My suggestion would be to WD40 them each time you
change the bulbs - they take most of the road dirt and rocks and salt, I'm
assuming that's why they broke - anyone have extras?
