Running on E:
Most people will tell you this is bad to do. They are likely
right, but the
reason they give doesn't hold up. They say you will pump the
"bad stuff"
from the bottom of the tank

This is such a mis-conception. The only way it would be possible is if you
have rocks in your tank, or you only let it idle. Think about it...if you
are driving, do you really think the "bad stuff" will stay at the bottom of
the tank? No, it will be mixed up in the fuel as you travel down the road,
unless, you ARE packing rocks.

BTW, last night, I had to refuel and was showing 438 miles on the trip
meter. I was running well below E. I didn't fill it, but by pumping in 7
gallons, the gauge went to almost 2/3 of a tank.
