SML: performance oil

since you guyz are looking or making mods for performance......
what's the best engine oil (motor oil) available? let's say applications for 
engines with turbos and high revs application....are synthetic and 
conventional oil the same?...or is it only a marketing strategy....what about 
slick50 (by:dupont)?
