SML: intake Q?

I WAS ON THE OVERBOOST.COM SITE AND CLICKED ON HOW TO INSTALL AN INTAKE. 
sorry bout caps, and in one pic they showed the removal of a silencer inside 
the bumper. do we have this silencer in our cars? all i did was remove the 
box and the little tube. on a 94 xe. later tony
