I know Dan Barnes well so I am reasonably sure that he was careful in his
testing. Dan is an engineer and smarter than your typical magazine writer.
I know Dan but I don't know Hondas super well so I am not sure about how
good there stock ignitions are. I tuned a NOS B18C and it would not run
without it's MSD. I do know Nissan ignitions very well though and I can show
you dyno charts with no difference in power between and MSD and stock on a
GA16.

Get a stock GA16, Make sure the plugs, wires, cap and rotor are in good
condition and put on an MSD, carefuly stablize the car on the dyno before
and after, being dilgent about entering the correct correction factor and
you will not see much of a difference.

Unless the test was done very carefuly it is easy to gain 2-3 hp by doing
nothing but running the motor unstabilized. Read my article on dyno tuning
in the december issue of SCC.

Even if an ignition would give you 2-3 hp, the money is still beter spent
doing any number of other mods. You cannot compare results on other types
of car when we are talking Nissans here.
