I currently have a 96 200sx SE. I have an HS header and JWT intake and ECU.
I think that my exhaust piping diameter is hurting performance. I currently
have 2.5" piping from the cat back mated to an A'PEXi N1 muffler. The
piping is not mandrel bent, however it is very smooth. There are very few
places where the piping is actually reduced in diameter, granted reductions
are inevitable on a conventional "crush" bender. After bolting on the
header and taking it to the track I ran slower times. I thought of a few
things, I verified timing accuracy, replaced plug wires, and checked
condition of plugs. The only thing I can attribute this loss too is the
exhaust piping. My dilemma is that I plan on either doing turbo or N2O in
the near future. Both of which benefit from larger diameter exhaust piping!
Should I change it out for 2" mandrel bent piping, and will the 2" piping
limit performance when I do the N2O or turbo? I noticed your car (Mike)
sprays with the Greddy exhaust, is this limiting performance with the N2O?
Well let me know what you think. TIA
