SML: changing the color of carpet

Somebody has to have some knowledge on this:
I want to change the color of my interior carpeting to
black but other than putting in a new black carpet
what else can I do? Is there a way of dying it (i've
heard this mentioned before) and how? Or maybe using
that cloth interior spray paint (need a lot of cans)?
What would work?
