Does the valve cover gasket need to be replaced if you remove the cover. I am planning on inspecting my valve clearance and want to know if I should replace the gasket. do I need to replace the spark plug seals? The current gasket doesn't leak one bit, will it hold up if I reuse it? My valve train has been ticking a little more than usual lately and I figure it might be time to check the clearance. Hopefully I wont have to re-shim it. I have about 120K miles one the engine and the other day when I was changing the oil i peaked in through the filler hole and noticed that my cam lobe on the intake side was a little marred. I want to take the cover off and check things out, but I want to be prepared before I do it. -dave
