I, too put a large sub box in my trunk and yes the mileage drops that 
drastically.  Our Sentras weigh 3345lbs. with 115 hp.  Any weight difference 
other than the driver makes a big difference.  As far as the 6x9's...don't 
try it...not worth it nor will it sound better then 6 1/2's in this tiny 
car.  But if you want to stop the ratteling either go to a Safeway of 
general store and pick up some rubber washers or go all out and buy Dynomats 
$$$.
