I don't know if this will help out or not, But I used to have a Sentra that
had a carb. not fuel injected and one time I changed my oil and filter and
like always I put 4 quarts of oil in for the refill and this one time I
started having the same kind of problem as you, I checked every thing I knew
how to and could not find the problem, I took it to a local auto repair shop
and they could not find out what was wrong so I had to take it to the
dealership and pay top dollar for the repair work, what the problem turned
out to be was because I had over filled the oil just by this little bit the
oil was being forced up into the smog system pipes and getting into the carb
and plugging up some small openings in the carb, as the gasoline would run
thur the carb it would dilute the oil and it would run fine until the oil got
pushed up once again and go thur the hole cycle again and again. The fix was
easy, the mech. at the dealer ship drained a small amount of oil out of the
crankcase until it showed full on the oil dip stick, started the engine and
sprayed carb cleaner into the carb and it was fixed and once again ran great.
Hope this might be of some help to you.
Ron
