I don't know about your area, but here (central Kentucky) most Honda guys
are laughably ignorant about their cars. From what I have seen, they mistake
high redline and VTEC for serious muscle. For instance, when I told this guy
that my Sentra has as much torque as his Civic Si, I thought he was going to
hit me! And yes, I too have noticed the "I'm driving a Civic DX, but I think
it's a 911" syndrome--I find it pretty amusing that these guys actually
think their base model Civics are fast. Just like our 1.6 Sentra's, they are
slow from the factory, but, with some cash dropped on them, you can make
them reasonably zippy. But try telling that to some 19 year old Honda guy,
and you'll just get a blank stare.
