I took apart my front suspension this morning to cut a little bit more off
the bump stops to see if it improves ride quality at all. My first question
is, what exactly is the bump stop. I'm guessing it is the thing the sits
inside the coil/strut assembly that has the dust boot connected to it. The
reason I'm not sure is because before this car which I've had about a year,
I had a SUV, and the bump stops sat on the control arms. Can someone
clarify this for me.
I also was taking a look at the top mounting plates and was looking for a
way to increase the travel. I think I have found a way to get about 3.-.5
inches more of travel, and still being able to use the STB. However, I am
going to need some parts to do this, because I don't want to destroy my
original stuff in case it doesn't work. I know a junkyard in town that has
a NX2000(Is that what its called?), but I'm not sure if the suspension parts
are interchangable(basically I need the parts that sit on top of the
spring). Does anyone know if these are the same? Another question I have
is, what can I use to cut 1/4 in steel or aluminum besides a plasma cutter.
My third question is, does anyone know the name of the guy that owns
Motivational on this list. Cuz if this works, I will have neither the time
nor the ability to produce something like this for anyone that wants it, and
since they already make the rear part, why not help him with the front.
