One question: If the headgasket was indeed blown, would the car have been
able to run like it was? Recall, when it overheated, it was still idling,
it had not shut off.
Yes, I am now more concerened about the oil spill form the overheating than
the fuel filter ! If the headgasket is blown, can/should this be fixed?
What can I expect the cost to be? I've already been quoted a price of $400
for a fuel pump...If both headgasket and fuel pump need changing, it may not
be worth the expense for this 1991 sentra w/ 112k miles! And if the heads
are warped, who knows what that entails...
My fear is getting $1000 worth of repairs, and not even having a properly
running reliable car. At some point, it is worth considering getting
another car. damn.,
I'll let you know what the dealer comes back with.....
Thanks for the the lengthy replies,
I've learned a lot in hte last few days!
