Hello Every One:
Here's a idea I've been thinking about for awhile and was wondering if any
one else on the list might be interested. How about a Route 66 cross country
road trip or as much on route 66 as could be done across the USA with a meet
of all interested partys some place in the middle of the USA. My thinking was
all the west coast people would meet up someplace on the west coast say like
the Santa Montica Peer at a pre arranged date and time and drive east and the
east coast people could meet up some were on the east coast and drive west,
with a meeting set up someplace along the way of both groups going east and
west, have a show and shine or some other kind of an event. I was thinking
about having this sometime in 2002 or 2003 as this would give all interested
partys plenty of time to work out the details, save up the money, get there
Sentra's in shape. My thoughts are just a nice cruse each day covering about
300 miles each day with stops along the way each day to see local Route 66
items of intrest, or other local tourest traps or what ever the group has
decided on before leaving. By setting this event up for the year 2002 or 2003
it would give each group time enough to have some peoples elected to be in
charge of booking rooms, planning gas stops,calling ahead to check things out
and finding out what kind of expences are involved to see local things,
checking into groupe discounts, finding out how many people will be attending
for sure. Just working out all the little details on something of this nature
would involve. I've made this run a few times myself with my wife and
daughter getting as far east as Texas but never finishing the route 66 ride
to the end yet. Like I said its just a thought only right now and I think it
would cool to have as many Sentra's making the trip each way with a meeting
in the middle so list members could eyeball each other and get to know each
other better.
