After a bit of struggle with the install itself, I now have the ES torque
set inserts in my 94 XE. First, the motor is stiff as shit--no movement
whatsoever. Shifts are ultra-tight and smooth (already had the PS short
shifter and ES shifter bushing), the car feels tighter overall and take-offs
are a little more predictable, since the engine can't move anymore. The
downside to all this is that my car shakes like a Top Fuel dragster at idle
and is much more buzzy and rattley at speed than it was previously. I am
still uncertain as to whether or not this was worth the extra noise and
vibration--and I am by no means looking for a cushy quiet ride. I do think,
however, that the massive shaking at idle can be fixed by just bumping up my
idle speed a bit, and the noise at speed can probably be mostly fixed by
tightening up certain interior parts. If anyone has questions about the
install, I would be glad to answer.
hands, feet and butt still tingling,
JWolfe
