Actually if it makes that sound you probably damaged something by bottoming
out. If you hit the hard (metal on metal) bottom rather than hitting a
snubber. Check out your strut mounts and also your suspension bushings.
It's likely that at least one of them is toast. Also you might want to
check your motor mounts. I don't know about the Nissan type but the pancake
type they use on Volvos can (and will) be broken by one good hard impact.

Also you might want to just remove your lower control arm and make sure it's
straight. When you bottom out the suspension, something has to give. Metal
will bend, or rubber will break. If you don't feel confident inspecting it
yourself, I would take the whole car to a decent (NOT Firestone or Goodyear)
front end shop and have them give it an inspection. Tell them exactly what
happened and see what they think.

Subject: SML: suspension noise(Me Too)

My car made a similar noise when I put my coilovers in...it was basically
bottoming out..then I put new struts in..since then I have not had it
re-alligned due to money but am goin to have it done this following
week..anyways it makes a horrible breaking noise up front when i turn the
wheels..what is the reason for the noise..it is only lowered maybe 1.5
inches in the rear and 2" in the front..and I'm using KYB GR2 struts...and a
front strut bar
Thanx,
Greyson Crowe
