Jesus, please don't do that. Floor jacks don't have a locking mechanism, so
if
the hydraulics let go it'll drop the car right on you. The manuals for the
floor
jacks recommend you get jackstands to hold the weight once you get them
jacked up.
What I do is jack the whole car off the ground and put a good set of
jackstands
under it. I think another reader had some elaborate ramp setup; it gives me
some
good ideas for building a rack to rest the car frame on. A few 4x4s and
miscellaneous
other pieces (all firmly bolted together of course) might be just the thing
for having
a secure resting place for the car that it can't fall off. As most of you
probably know, running your car while it's on jackstands is not always a
good idea.
