I thought I would post this since I know some of u have
clear tails on ur B14s. Kinda long so sorry ahead of time.
I live in Arizona and was on my way to work about a
month ago. It was about 6:00 am and I had just come off the
101 and was getting on the I17. The exact moment that I
come off the loop 101, I see a motorcylce behind me. I knew
this was a cop because he had the One large headlight and
the two smaller amber lights under it. Sure enough he
throws his lights and pulls me over. He asks me to get out
of the car so I do and go around the back where he is
standing. Then he gives me the famous line, "Do you know
why I pulled u over?" No i said and he tells me because of
my clear tails. Now I had the red reflective tape on them
so I thought that they were legal but apparently not. He
then asks me how dark my tint is and I told him stock which
it is. He has my roll down my window and puts this box
thing up to the window and says that Its way to dark. It
should show a reading of at least 35% light getting through
and mine only showed a 12. I told him again that I had not
darkened the tint at all and even showed him the word Nissan
which was printed into the Tint. "Well its still ur
responsibility to get this fixed and gave me a warning. Now
I really dont think that Nissan would make thousands of cars
with Illeagal tint so i think he was full of it. He tells
me that that my Xenon blue headlights were Illegal too and
that they needed to be fixed as well. Ok fine. So I get my
nice fat ticket for the tails which was only 90 bucks, but
still I have way better things to do with my money than pay
tickets.
So now comes the bye bye tails part. I go to court on
Feb 7 with pictures showing that I had put the stocks back
on to see if they would dismiss the charges. The judge gave
me two choices. I could either pay the ticket or I could
turn in the lights and he would consider waiving the fines.
Well I decided that I would just turn the lights in becuase
if I tried to sell them I would prob. only get about 60
bucks for them. So I turn the lights in the following day
and He has me fill out some forms stating that I turned the
lights in and that I was asking to waive the fines. After
all that he tells me that he will send me a letter in the
mail stating if the charges were droped or if I still have
to pay the fine.
Great Ive turned the lights in and there is still a
chance that I have to pay the ticket. So if any of u have
clear tails becarful out there. I dont know about other
places, but here in Phoenix they dont like the evil clear
tails.
At least now I run less of a risk getting pulled over
although the car looks kinda odd since I was used to seeing
the clears on it.
