I'll try looking in the FSM to see what I can dig up. \
I don't think it has anything to do with your sound system infact.
You mentioned that the whole electrical system and even the engine RPM
drops, plus you've done some troubleshooting by replacing the headunit with
one known to be good. Thats a step in the right direction.
Can you duplicate the lights blinking and RPM drop by using any other
accessory in the car? Or, is the problem pretty much constant.
I think we need more specific info before we can isolate the problem.
Is that "blurb blurb" noise RPM dependant?
I keep hearing people say to run the RCA interconnects on opposite sides of
the car but seriously folks. Consider how little voltage and current are on
those cables. Its unlikely they could induce noise onto each other. Most
RCAs are shielded anyways so I wouldn't worry about surrounding noise
getting on the cable. The noise is shorted to ground before much or any of
it gets on the center conductor.
