Hi,

'92 Sentra XE, the engine is in great shape after 150k mi (pulls OK, burns
almost no oil etc.)

I noticed, that in cold weather (around freezing point) there's a huge
increase in fuel consumption. I know that it is normal for a certain extent,
but I think this is over it.

On long trips of interstate traffic (several hours 75-85mph) normally it goes
at 34-37 mpg (which is quite good, I think), but when it's cold out there, it
goes down to 25-27 mpg (same interstate traffic).
The cooling system is OK, after the car warms up, the thermometer needle
stucks to the middle. The only difference is that I use the heater.

Do you think this is normal ?

What should I check ? O2 sensor ? I checked out couple of weeks ago (in warm
weather) and it tested OK.
Is it possible that the A/C kicks in even when I heat the car ? How can I
(simply) check that ?

Any other ideas ?

Thank you,

Tivadar
