I just read the article about the new 2.5 motor. It has the direct acting
cam on the bucket type cam design with VTC just like the GA16 motors. It has
balance shafts like the good old Quad 4 that had 2.4 liters. I think the H22
has them too in the prelude. They have the open deck design of the Honda
motors, so a block guard may be needed like those engines. The intake is
that nice tube style alluminum unlike the heavy cast manifold of some. The
only thing I am worried about isthe ECU controls the throttle now and if it
fowls up, the little motor could send the throttle wide open and stick their
with the person not in control. I don't like that. I believe in the old
cable type, if it breaks, then the thing won't run, I guess it could stick
open though too, but less likely for it to happen. What if the electronics
get too much water or moisture and it fails to open the throttle? The motor
looks to have potential, but the thing is all new and I guess by the article
the ECU will be a new challenge for JWT to handle. Headers will be weird
because of the close cat to the header. They said the exhaust could be a
restiction and aftermarket could add about 15 or more to the power of 180.
