This sounds wrong. Leaded gas burns about the same temperature as unleaded.
The reason it ruins the catalytic convertor is the lead poisons the
catalyst. It will also ruin an O2 sensor.

Ron, you can not use a cat with lead gas.
It burns too hot and would melt the inside of
your cat and cause your car to catch on fire.
