Here's my advice, for what it's worth.  Take your drive axle to an
automotive axle rebuilder, if you have one nearby.  Have them take a look at
if it can be rebuilt without grinding below the hardening depth.  If it can
be done, let them do it.  Ask around and see who is reputable.  If you don't
have someone like that around, ask your dealership if they can get you a
Nissan factory rebuilt unit.  I DON'T advise getting a rebuilt unit from
Autozone or the like because mostly they come from Mexico or similar and
they just hog the CV joints down past the hardening depth and use oversize
parts to rebuild.  I made that mistake on one drive axle; we'll see how long
it lasts but it's enough of a pain to replace that I wouldn't want to do it
again any sooner than I have to.  Hope this helps.
