Funny you should say that. A lot of men think women really control all.
But that's another topic. Welcome to the board! All it takes to get to be
a decent mechanic is a willingness to learn and get your hands dirty. I had
no one to teach me and learned everything I know now because I was unwilling
to let incompetent mechanics charge me more than I earned an hour to screw
up my car. So, what's wrong with your car?

If you don't have good tools yet, here's some ways to get them without
breaking the bank:

1) Tell your family and friends to limit gifts to what they can find in the
Sears Craftsman tool section.

2) Shop around at garage sales and check the classifieds. You will want at
least a 2-ton floor jack (that's the one on 4 wheels, hydraulic with a long
handle) and at least 2 sturdy jackstands.

3) Check flea markets, pawnshops, etc. Sometimes you can score a good
timing light for next to nothing.

Most of the maintenance you can do easily with a minimum of tools. I hope
we can help. And sorry things didn't work out for you, marriage wise. My
first one failed but my second one is going very well. Good luck.

Dave

Subject: SML-NON-P: new to the game

Hi, I am new to the game. Just Friday me and my husband decided to split.
Now I have to fix my car myself. I have relied on this mailing list and the
sentra.net web site. I going to prove to my self that I can do it on my
own. With a little help for everyone here. So hit me with any ideas. I
know that I am a women living in a mans world. But I am ready to learn and
work.
