What they most likely mean is, connect up the light bulb temporarily. If
they gave you such a beast, then it came with a socket and electrical
connections, I should imagine. So you put it in series with the capacitor
(shouldn't matter on which side) and then hook it up. After the light bulb
dims totally out, it's charged. Then CAREFULLY disconnect it (taking care
not to inadvertently connect ground to the power side, etc.) and then
reconnect the power and ground leads as it would be for operation. The
capacitor will keep charge for days, weeks, months maybe so it will stay
charged while you remove the light bulb from the circuit. Does this explain
things?

Subject: SML-NON-P: charging capacitor
i need help charging my capacitor. the instructions are not detailed at all.
so i'm confused. here's what it says:
connect ground, then power cable to the cap. be sure to use the supplied
charging bulb for the initial charge. the bulb shold be placed in line with
the main battery cable. once charging is compelte, you may remove the bulb
and finalize your installation.
what does it mean i should place it in line with the main battery cable. it
looks like a resistor. do i just splice it in or what? i'm so confused.
thanx for any help
