Hi, I was hoping someone who understands the stock stereo wiring set ups on
Sentras better than myself could give me some advise on this. I once had a
really bad problem with spark plug noise getting into the AM side of my stock
AM/FM/Cassette player in my 97 Sentra, I took it back to the dealership and
they could not correct the problem even after replacing many electric parts
in the ign. system, checking different grounds and replacing the
radio/cassette player. One day I got a call from the service department
informing me they had found a repair for my radio noise problem and to bring
it in and get it repaired for free, which I did and it took care of the
problem 100 per cent. What the service department person did was install an
extra ground on the hood that ran to the fire wall. It seems that on some
Sentras the engine hood was acting like an antenna and picking up the spark
plug noise, even with brand new spark plug wires and all the ign. system in
tip top shape. Well, I've sents installed a carbon fiber hood and even after
reinstalling the extra ground wire onto the new carbon fiber hood my spark
plug noise is back again and it seems worse than ever now and because the
Sentra is out of warranty and its a non stock hood I can't take it back to
the dealership to have this repaired nor can I figure out how to fix this
myself. I know there are some type of filter(s) I could put in line some
place on the radio but I'm not sure what kind or where to install them, if
someone knows could you please let me know.
Thanks
Ron
