When my ball joint was going out, it made a noise that sounded like it was
coming from the tire area. The noise sounded like the squeak a door from
like a old truck would make. And as far as feel, I would say its almost
impossible to tell if the joint is getting bad because it will happen
slowly. But I did notice a difference in cornering with the new control
arm. You are supposed to replace the whole are because they have had
problems with new ball joints, that where pressed in, coming loose. my
$.02
