Yes, we utilize those codes as well. We have not transitioned to ICD 10 yet. I
heard that we would be transitioning to it soon.
Our Nurse Clinical Integration Specialist help to ensure that we are coding our
patients correctly based upon physician documentation. Our Physician Sepsis
leader provided a lot of education on sepsis for the medical and dental staff.
We added a dummy charge code to our sepsis bundle order set to help us identify
our patients. We could run a report on who was currently in-house on the sepsis
bundle orders. Take Care Barb

Subject: Re: [Sepsis Groups] Time Zero
Our Hospital currently performs Sepsis audits on ED and IP. We are relying on
clinical personnel to capture sepsis patients for the audit. There is much
discussion about moving the audit to more retroactive and pulling those
patients with codes specific to Sepsis. Is anyone doing auditing relying on
coding solely?
If so, what ICD9 Codes are you using to pull data?
Thanks,
Pat
