It uses a check box system to assess for Sepsis, Severe Sepsis, or Septic Shock and our department uses it to collect data. If certain boxes are checked indicating the severity, then there is indication to use a sepsis protocol. I also created a modified version for the non ICU areas to be able to compile objective information to communicate to the RTT/physician. At the bottom of that tool it states that if the patient meets the above criteria call the RRT. Hope that helps. Anyone have any information on screening for sepsis during a rapid response call? Bonnie Galvez RN, MSN, CCRN ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Tue, 15 Oct 2013 17:47:53 -0500 From: Stephen Davidow <[email protected]> To: "'[email protected]'" <[email protected]> Subject: [Sepsis Groups] Webcast on New SSC Electronic Data Collection Tool Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Collection and analysis of data from bundle compliance is crucial to the success of improvement efforts in the care of patients with severe sepsis and septic shock. The Surviving Sepsis Campaign's (SSC) electronic data collection tool has been updated to reflect the 2012 guidelines and bundles and allows institutions to measure activities as improvement cycles are implemented. Additionally, a new step-wise approach has been developed, which will assist institutions new to the bundles. Learn to use the new data collection tool efficiently and effectively in your institution with instruction from the primary designer and member of the SSC leadership, Christa Schorr, RN, MSN. Using screen shots of the new resource, Ms. Schorr will explain how it differs from the previous database, illustrate how users can download and install it locally, and demonstrate how participating facilities can generate reports. A question and answer session will follow her presentation. This webcast will be held Monday, October 21, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. Central Time (view additional time zones<http://www.mmsend53.com/link.cfm?r=1241422594&sid=27220563&m=2999081&u=SCCM&j=15354362&s=http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Using+the+New+Surviving+Sepsis+Campaign+%28SSC%29+Collection+Tool+&iso=20131021T12&p1=64&ah=1>). For those unable to attend, the webcast will be posted on the SSC website. Learning Objectives * Download and install the data collection tool * Demonstrate the data collection tool to colleagues * Create reports on local performance improvement efforts in the treatment of patients with severe septic shock Faculty Christa A.
