While treating the patient as soon as possible is our collective goal, is
it not a bit "cart before the horse" for EMS to administer antibiotics
before cultures have been obtained? I've heard conflicting statements from
different micro departments in various hospitals I have worked over the
years as to the validity of culture/sensitivity results when antibiotics
are already part of the puzzle.
