That there is no guideline/evidence to not give 2 antibiotics at the same time. Many reactions are delayed. Many nurses were taught this in school or have recollection of learning it but there is no real evidence behind. 2. We have posted a compatibility to chart on our sepsis posters and education to either give 2 antibiotics though separate lines at the same time or give together through 1 line if feasible. As I see it, and as I practice, the concurrent administration of the antibiotics is more important than the risk of a reaction. Especially when using nepho/hepato-insulting vein irritating vesicant antibiotics that must be infused over a longer period of time. Not too sure how others feel about the question. Cliff.
