Hi,
Can someone share with me what CODE their hospital would use for a OB/GYN case
that has sepsis due to Postpartum (PP) Endometritis? I do not see a lot of
"sepsis" documented by the OB/GYN providers (in contrast to medicine) and
wanted to know if other hospitals see the same? I abstract/review for new
Sepsis Measure and I also do review for OB/GYN Dept (chart reviews per their
specific Dept QI Indicators which include PP infections). I recently came
across a case in which pt developed tachycardia and fever after a C/S,
consulted also by medicine in which there is documentation by the consultant of
sepsis due to endometritis. It appears labs were sent including a lactate that
came back elevated >2.

In this case above, the final CODING included a secondary diagnosis of
"puerperal sepsis", ICD10- "o85".
This code is NOT on the Table for the new Sepsis measure.
Hoping someone can let me know if their hospital OB/GYN does use the
language/document "sepsis" and what code is used for the final diagnosis if
they do have sepsis (postpartum)? Thanks for any feedback!
