If something is a symptom of an infection, it can't be counted as a source of infection. For example, suspect catheter-related infection, possible leukocytosis related infection. Inclusion guidelines for abstraction are :Severe Sepsis, R/O Severe Sepsis and can also use a Differential diagnosis of Severe Sepsis. Exclusions Guidelines for abstraction are: Sepsis, Septic, Septicemia, Bacteremia and infection.
