Good afternoon,

I have been reviewing some of our severe sepsis and septic shock cases and I am
finding a common theme for post-op sepsis is aspiration pneumonia. Have any of
you come across any articles in relation to quality metrics to help prevent
this? We are performing swallow screens on these patients but it seems to me
that is not enough to prevent this from happening.

Best practice or evidence based bundles that have worked for your hospitals?

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Emily C. McKinney (Swiss), BSN, RN
