How does your ER document IV fluids given prior to arrival (by EMS Sepsis protocol) so it can be abstracted from the chart to count towards the 30ml/kg requirement?
Our dilemma is the clinical abstractors need a physician order for the fluids given via EMS. The EMS sepsis protocol is based on physician orders, but is not a part of the patient record. I was wondering if anyone else had tackled this and how you were successful? Any feedback is appreciated.
