RNs are screening at SFH when triggered by the presence of 2 SIRS. The EMR begins screening and sends an alert when 2 SIRS criteria met in the EMR. The pop-up alert requires the RN to answer whether the patient has a suspected infecti0n.
If yes to infection, a severe sepsis screening flowsheet automatically opens. This is instituted hospital-wide and screening takes place whether in Triage, Main ED, or in-patient areas if 2 SIRS plus infection are present.
