Good afternoon I review all SEPSIS admissions via ED, inpatient direct admissions and all CODE SEPSIS house wide I do about 70 charts a month for our hospital PI SEPSIS dashboard.

There is a formula in Specification Manual of how to figure out the sample size. We have 7 hospitals. We used to sample 23 cases for 5 of them (2 others were calculated by a different formula). This seems to yield in smaller denominator and very small data for PI, so we increased the sample size to 35 for each. Hope this helps.
