The 4.42.1 release just fixes a regression when using the single_table_inheritance plugin and using a dataset_module in a parent class. In 4.42.0, the dataset_module would not applied to a subclass dataset. This issue was caused by the refactoring so that models do not modify datasets.
If you are not using the single_table_inheritance plugin or are not using dataset_module in a model that uses the single_table_inheritance plugin, you don't need to upgrade.
